Most consumer fireproof safes are rated for 30 to 45 minutes at 1,400 to 1,550°F. The HS series ups that to 2 hours at 1,850°F. That's meaningfully more conservative than the typical residential fire, which peaks around 1,100 to 1,500°F and is usually suppressed within 20 to 30 minutes.
The extra margin matters if you live somewhere with slower fire response, if you're storing genuinely irreplaceable family records, or if you want the documents to come out of a worst-case fire intact rather than borderline. - Choose the E (electronic) if you value quick daily access. Choose the D (dial + key) if you value no-batteries reliability, dual-control redundancy, or want to split the combo and key between two family members.
