Fire King Overview: What UL Class 350 Actually Means
Fire King's core value proposition rests on the UL Class 350 rating. Underwriters Laboratories puts each cabinet design in a furnace at outside temperatures up to 1,700°F and verifies the interior stays below 350°F for the rated duration (either 1 hour or 2 hours). That 350°F ceiling is picked because paper autoignites at around 451°F, so a Class 350 cabinet keeps its contents well below the temperature at which anything inside would burn.
Two additional protections come standard across the Fire King line:
- UL 30-foot impact rating. The cabinets are drop-tested from 30 feet and must maintain fire protection after impact. This matters in real fire scenarios where floors can collapse or firefighters have to move heavy furniture.
- Water resistance. Sprinkler systems and fire hoses often do more damage to unprotected documents than the fire itself. Fire King's cabinet seals are designed to protect contents from incidental water contact.
- ETL 30-minute digital media rating. Adds protection for external hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and LTO/DLT backup tapes, which fail at far lower temperatures than paper.

Best fit: Growing offices, legal or medical practices, or anyone who needs to store years of active records with regular access. The sweet spot in the Fire King line for standard business use.

Both the safe and the file drawers carry the UL 1-Hour Class 350 fire rating, 30-foot impact rating, and ETL 30-minute digital media protection. The safe uses a UL-listed combination lock; the file drawers use a Medeco high-security key lock with lock-bypass so you can leave some drawers accessible. 698 pounds total.
