Browning High Quality Clamshell Vault Doors

Browning Clamshell Vault Doors for Your Home Vault

Browning Clamshell vault doors secure the entrance to a dedicated gun room or home vault, giving you space to organize firearms, documents, and valuables beyond the capacity of a traditional safe. Available in in-swing and out-swing configurations, these doors let you choose the opening direction that works best with your room’s layout.

The clamshell design uses an interior and exterior flange that clamp around the wall opening, creating a finished appearance on both sides. Its adjustable frame accommodates walls from 8 to 11½ inches thick, making it an option for reinforced rooms and basement vaults with compatible wall construction.

Security Features and Door Options

A 7-gauge steel frame, 24 active locking bolts, and Browning’s Uni-Force locking system work together to resist forced entry. OmniBarrier lock protection helps shield the lock against attack, while an internal release allows you to open the door from inside the vault. Fire-resistant insulation and a Palusol expanding seal add protection at the doorway, though the room’s overall fire resistance also depends on its walls, ceiling, and construction.

An in-swing door opens into the vault, keeping the hallway clear but requiring space inside for the door to move. An out-swing door preserves interior storage space and needs clearance outside the room. Choose from available lock and finish options to suit your preferences. For a distinctive appearance, the Browning 1878 Clamshell model features a metal glaze finish and cast iron wheel handle.

Before ordering, confirm your wall thickness, rough opening, swing direction, and delivery access against the selected model’s installation drawings. As an authorized Browning dealer, Safe & Vault Store can help you compare options and check fit before you buy. Call800-207-2259, open a live chat or email us to speak with a safe specialist.
